Microsoft Partner Veritec Launches “Apprenticeship” -type Training Program – Services

Canberra-based Veritec has launched an “apprenticeship” training program for IT skills in partnership with a number of training providers.

The Microsoft partner is participating in the Department of Jobs and Small Business’s Launch Into Work (LIW) program, an ongoing pilot project supporting the development of IT skills through a pre-employment and skills development path.

Veritec has partnered with training provider Australian Training Company (ATC), Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) and Skills Canberra.

“We are excited to play a role in developing and strengthening Canberra’s digital skills capacity,” said Keiran Mott, Managing Director of Veritec.

“This program provides the opportunity for on-the-job training and skills development to a diverse group of people. At the same time, it also offers potential career enhancement opportunities for those making the transition from different industries, effectively putting them in pole position for new career prospects in the growing digital economy.

Similar to a trades apprenticeship, participants with no prior IT experience will work at Veritec while completing Microsoft certifications and Certificate II, III or IV courses at CIT, which is the Canberra equivalent of TAFE. The program’s first group of ten apprentices recently completed a four-week pre-employment program at the Veritec office and were offered a range of two-year internships.

Interns will work within specialist Veritec teams, including managed services, business applications, engagement applications, bespoke solutions, delivery assurance and enterprise resource planning, as well as their operating team.

“This invaluable real-world immersion will give interns the opportunity to develop the technical and essential skills necessary for success in the IT industry, including project approach and design as well as customer and stakeholder engagement. “Mott said.

Microsoft launched a similar program last year in partnership with MEGT, Prodigy Learning and TAFE NSW, combining an IV certificate in computer networking with paid work experience. Interns also earn a Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate certification, which includes a specialization in cloud skills.
